Webscale STRATUS is built on top of a micro-services architecture powered by Kubernetes . Through micro-services, we can assign resources dynamically and provide your environment exactly what it needs. This saves money compared to traditional dedicated hosting solutions where you pay for a limited amount of resources whether you use them or not. The STRATUS stack combined with our dynamic pricing plans means you only pay for what you use it, and it is provided for your store as needed.

Stratus Architecture — AWS

The important consideration is that you are not required to do any direct management of the AWS environments used. In other words, you get the full benefit and power of a global cloud services infrastructure without any intervention or configuration. Our STRATUS system works on top of AWS to give you the highest performing technology stack for hosting Magento in a cloud environment.

Amazon EC2

EC2 is the flagship product of AWS and provides the raw hardware needed to run Webscale STRATUS. The underlying physical nodes for all Webscale STRATUS environments are EC2 instances. The micro-services running your environment run on EC2 instances, as well.

What is High Availability?

By definition, High Availability (HA) is the ability of a system to operate continuously without failing for a designated period of time. HA works to ensure that a system meets an agreed level of operating performance. Data backup and fail-over capabilities play an important role in ensuring that HA systems meet their availability targets. MageMojo currently uses multiple backup strategies to ensure system stability and availability. In addition to back up concerns, system designers need to pay close attention to the data storage and access technology they use. Highly available systems must be well designed and thoroughly tested before they are used. The good news is, the experienced and knowledgeable MageMojo team has devised a system that will protect your data and grant you the peace of mind that accompanies knowing your site is stable.

Production Environment

Your STRATUS account allows for one Production Environment for hosting your live store. Live stores may only be accessed on Production Environments.

For autoscaling plans (as opposed to our Resource-Based plans), Default Session billing can be switched to collect sessions from Google Analytics if preferred.

Development Environment

Based on your plan, you are entitled to create one or more Development Environments. These Environments can be used for programming, staging, or testing purposes.

Access for Developers & Authorized Users to Stratus

Authorized users are generally people for which Webscale STRATUS access is necessary to help you build or maintain your Magento installation. (developers, 3rd party, qa)

Contacts with access can request changes such as server upgrades/downgrades, software installation, and admin panel access. Users with access may also submit support tickets. They cannot update or see your billing information.

Stratus Email

Webscale STRATUS does not include a mail server component for providing POP and IMAP email service. However, using Amazon’s Simple Email Service (SES), STRATUS can deliver your transactional store emails, such as invoice receipts, shipping notifications, etc.

For SES to work with your STRATUS environment,

Your domain must be live and validated with Google Analytics sessions. This allows the cron services to launch and run. Cron services are responsible for handling most email sent by Magento stores.
Your domain must have its Domain Name Server (DNS) updated to use the [MageMojo Route 53 implementation][2] or the proper SES DNS records have been added to your 3rd party DNS management provider. The necessary DNS records are visible in the Status Control Panel or you may contact Webscale STRATUS Support for assistance.

Since cron services may not work in development or test environments, you may find that emails may not work in these instances, as well.

Autoscaling (production) environments & Development environments.

Autoscaling environments are the default and recommended production environments for STRATUS. The autoscaling environments will scale out your website frontend horizontally and automatically in response to surges in traffic.

Autoscaling environments have two types - Single tenant and Multi tenant.

Multi tenant - Starter, Lite, Plus and Select, have all services running across the shared STRATUS platform. The limits in the services are aggregated as a total.

Stratus TOS — Magento Requirements

To host Magento on STRATUS, installations must adhere to our Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy .

All STRATUS live Magento environments must:

Be in Production Mode .

Have all caches enabled .

Have session storage set to Redis or Memcache . Sessions cannot be stored in files or the database.

Install and active the MageMojo Cron extension on Magento 2 store installs.

Have indexers set to Manual Mode for Magento 1.x and Scheduled for Magento 2.x.

Ensure that static assets are not stored in the database.

Enable Autoscaling on autoscaling plans.
